Family Relaxation Weekend – Blue Ridge, Georgia

This weekend we set out to have a nice relaxing family weekend in Blue Ridge. My sister in law and her family and mother in law all met us there.

My hubby and I arrived early Friday so we got settled in the cabin. The cabin was well equipped with fire pit, pool table, dart board, old school video game, hot tub and 3 floors for perfect privacy for everyone. Each floor had its our porch as well.

Once we settled in, we headed for an early dinner. We went to The Black Sheep in downtown Blue Ridge. We had lamb lollipops, crab cake and duroc pork chop. It was fabulous! I even tried the lamb this time and it was so tender and perfectly cooked. This will definitely make my must eat list!

The Black Sheep is located at 480 W Main Street, Blue Ridge, GA. It is a must try if your in the area.

After dinner, we did a little shopping and then went back to the house to relax in the hot tub while we waited for everyone else to arrive. Deer just walked right up near the house eating. It was so peaceful!

Everyone else arrived after 9 and we all got settled and went to bed.

Saturday we woke up to rain, so we cooked biscuits and gravy, played some pool and darts, hung out on the porches just listening to nature and the rain. Our plan was to go down the Toccoa River, we just had to wait for the skies to clear. We headed over to Toccoa Valley Campground as soon as the radar was clear.

Toccoa Valley Campground is located 11481 Aska Rd, Blue Ridge. They rent tubes and rafts to use on the Toccoa and then pick you up and return you to the beginning at the campground. They have showers and dressing areas to change afterwards too.

After floating the river, we headed to gem mine across from the Shallowford Bridge at Aska Mining Company.

Be sure to take a peek at the Shallowford Bridge while your there.

Aska Mining Company is located at 8436 Aska Rd, Blue Ridge. My niece loves gems and had a great time mining for gems! She had a big smile the whole time!

After gem mining we headed back to the cabin to get ready for dinner. We grilled ribeyes and porterhouses with baked potatoes and green beans. A meal fit for a king. We closed out our night with pool, darts and roasting s’mores.

Sunday morning we woke up, cleaned up the cabin and headed to grab breakfast at Waffle House.

The family left after breakfast and hubby and I started on our way home too. We stopped at Amicalola State Park on our way. I wanted to see how it looked with all the rain we had last week. It was beautiful as usual.

After Amicalola, we stopped in Dahlonega and then we were on the road again to head home.

Another great weekend. We had to dodge the rain and still had a great time.

Get out there and explore!

XOXO
