Theme Park Getaway in Orlando

Monday

We woke up bright and early Monday, Labor Day and left the house at 6 am. We grabbed breakfast and drove straight to Universal Studios. We were paying for parking by 11 am.

We rode Race through NYC with Jimmy Fallon, Fast and the Furious, Escape from Gringotts. Next we rode Hogwarts Express to Islands of Adventure. There we rode Hagrod’s Motorbikes. Hagrod’s Motorbikes are definitely worth the wait.

After the quick visit to Islands of Adventure, we went to check into the hotel. We stayed at Bohemian Hotel, Celebration.

Once we got settled in, we had a snafu in our plans; we saw we had cracked a phone screen, so we went and got that repaired. Luckily we found someone that was open late that could repair it on the spot. While we were waiting on the phone to be repaired we went to the International Food Trucks and grabbed a snack to eat. Once we got back to Celebration, we had ice cream from Kilwin’s (one of our favorite ice cream shops)

Tuesday

Tuesday we went to Hollywood Studios. We rope dropped and were in about 30 minutes before park opening. We rode Mickey and Minnies Runaway Railroad, Toy Story Mania, Rockin Rollercoaster and Star Tours.

After the rides, we had reservations at the Brown Derby for a late lunch. We both had the burgers and they were phenomenal.

After lunch, we hopped over to Epcot. Once there, we rode test track and then ate and drank around the world; mostly drank because honestly the food is overrated at the food kiosks.

Once we got back into Celebration we had tapas, sangria and dessert at Columbia in Celebration.

Wednesday

Wednesday we went to Islands of Adventure and rode Jurassic park Velocicoaster & Skull Island: Reign of King Kong.

Next we headed to Volcano Bay. We rode the Krakatau Aquacoaster and Honu of Honu Ika Moana. We floated in the rivers and had some rum punches and margaritas. Just a day of relaxing and drinking.

At about 4 p.m. there was lightening in the area, so we left volcano bay and went to Reyes mezcalaria to eat dinner. Reyes Mezcaleria is a must visit when in Orlando!

Thursday

Thursday we started the day at Islands of Adventure. We rode hagrods motorbikes, Velocicoaster and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. A storm started moving in, so we headed out and hid out in Starbucks while enjoying a drink, then headed to Cow Fish for cocktails and lunch. I had a jalenpeno popper burger and it was fabulous!!

After lunch we headed to Universal studios to wait until the skies cleared…we rode ET and watched the Bourne Stunt Spectacular Show…this is definitely a must see show while in Universal Studios. It is like no other show we have ever seen.

The rain seemed to part, so we headed to Volcano Bay. Once we got there, it was like a ghost town. We floated the lazy river, but it was chilly, sprinkling and cloudy, so we decided to go to the bar for cocktails. We checked the weather and it was a 99% chance of rain, so we decided we would stay at the bar until the skies cleared more (story of our day…waiting on the skies to part). After cocktails, we rode Ika Moana and then floated the river some more. We shut down the park and the headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We ate at a Mexican restaurant near our hotel (nothing to write about…I would not recommend).

After dinner, we walked around Celebration.

Friday

Friday we woke up and walked the trails around Celebration. There was a beautiful rainbow above our hotel.

Then we rope dropped at Epcot and went to ride the Elsa ride and then headed straight to Mexico to Cava to have margaritas. Let me tell you these are the best margaritas in Epcot. We each had two and we’re definitely feeling sideways. They were strong and very tasty. I had two El Diablos and hubby had two Dragones Top Shelf margaritas.

After margaritas, we headed to lunch reservations at the Rose and Crown. I had fish and chips and hubby had bangers and mash. We had the cheese plate for an appetizer. Lunch and service were very nice. I would return.

After lunch we headed to the Jammin chefs show in Canada and then on to the Land area; we rode Soarin, Living with the Land and watched Discover the Earth video. We stopped to get a passion fruit cheesecake and headed out around 3 pm. It was very hot so we headed back to the hotel to the pool.

We rested for a while and then got ready for dinner at Lakeside Bar and Grill, restaurant located within our hotel. Dinner was very tasty.

Saturday

Saturday we rope dropped at Magic Kingdom. It was so crowded, so we rode rides with short lines; we rode Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain and Jungle Cruise. We ate our mandatory cream cheese pretzel and then headed back to the hotel.

We met with my dad, brothers, and nephew for a late lunch at Columbia in Celebration. Then on to, where else? Kilwins for dessert, of course!

Sunday

Sunday we woke up leisurely and headed home.

This was our third time to Orlando so far this year, but my first time to blog about it…I don’t really think it is blog worthy, but hopefully someone will see something that is helpful.

I enjoyed photographing around the parks, riding the most thrilling rides in the parks, eating and drinking, and just hanging with my hubby.

Until our next adventure

XOXO
