Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas
Day 0 – The Day Before
We all got our negative Covid test results and celebrated Isabel’s 20th birthday.
Of course, I had to do a double check everything we had packed; making sure we had Covid vaccine cards, passport and Covid test results as well as all other cruise necessities, such as plenty of Dramamine, sunscreen, hats and bug repellent.
Day 1 – Drive and Embarkation
We woke up and were on the road by 3 am. It was an early morning but driving the day of the cruise, I had to build in time in case of any roadside emergencies, traffic or anything else unexpected. I am a planner and in cases like this I always plan in uh oh time!
We arrived at Port Everglades in Ft Lauderdale early and they let us go ahead and board about 1:30 pm. Our original boarding time wasn’t until 3:00 pm. So we were thankful, we slid right on.
Day 2 – Day at Sea
We woke up and had Johnny Rockets for breakfast. The kids had a quick, not so successful go, at ice skating. Hubby and I tried the guacamole at Sabor, it was delicious! We had a few drinks on the Rising Tide Bar and the Champagne and Martini Bar. All our kids and I played in a slot tournament. We also went to the sexiest man show; it is a must see…not so much for sexy men, but it was pretty humorous! My hubby played in a volleyball tournament. It was formal night for dinner. Following dinner we went to the Comedy & Impersonation show.
Day 3 – Roatan, Honduras
We woke up and had Johnny Rockets for breakfast. Then we headed out for our Jolly Roger Catamaran Excursion.
We traveled by bus to the Jolly Roger Docks, where we boarded the catamaran. We cruised on the catamaran until we arrived at the snorkeling location. We spent an hour or so snorkeling then started our journey back to the docks. On the way back to the docks we enjoyed cocktails and a buffet for lunch. The food was simple but tasty. The kids had a blast dancing too! Then the bus ride back to the port was quite interesting with all the cocktails we (well should I say, the kids) indulged on.
After our day out on the Jolly Roger, Blayne, Michaela, Efrain and I won at the Majority Rules Game; let me tell you, we are a competitive bunch!
Day 4 – Costa Maya, Mexico
We woke up and grabbed breakfast at Johnny Rockets then we headed out for our Chill Out River Rafting Excursion
We took a 90 minute bus ride to arrive at Lol-Ha. We experienced the natural beauty of Mexico’s Quintana Roo region while on a rafting adventure in the second-largest natural body of freshwater in Mexico.
First we met our guide and boarded a four-person raft. We were guided down a river into the lagoon. We had free time to swim around Bacalar Lagoon. This freshwater cenote-fed lake is known as the “Lake of Seven Colors” because its sandy bottom mimics the different shades of blue often seen in the ocean. As we reboarded the rafts, we were served sparkling wine on our trip back to the starting point. Once we arrived we were served a “Mexican picnic” which included a prepackaged sandwich, potato salad and soggy fruit salad. It was a definitely a picnic I never want to experience again. For the price of the excursion, the “light lunch” that was advertised was a let down. Back ashore we had some free time to take a dip in the lagoon’s crystalline waters; Efrain and Isabel enjoyed the rope swings.
After our rafting adventure, we took the 90 minute ride back to the port where we enjoyed shopping and drinks and music at Lucha Libre.
Day 5 – Cozumel, Mexico
We woke up and had Johnny Rockets for breakfast and headed off the ship for our ATV ride and beach relaxation excursion.
Our four-wheel ATV adventure took us to places in Cozumel most tourists never get to see. We took a short 15 minute bus ride to the ATV park Palancar Ranch and then watched a short instructional course before hitting the dirt roads to explore. We wound our way through the paths of Cozumel’s jungle. We got to ride for about one hour through the bumpy paths getting our “free Mexican massage”. After our ATV adventure, we were bussed to the San Francisco Beach Club where we had lunch (not included on the excursion) and then took a refreshing dip in the ocean. At the Beach Club, there were a lot of soliciting to try to get us to buy stuff. That part was less than desirable. We spent about 90 minutes there until they bussed us back to the port. Baylee wasn’t feeling well, so she and I headed back to the ship, while the others spent some time shopping in the port.
It was formal night for dinner; since Baylee wasn’t feeling well, she didn’t make it for photos or dinner.
Day 6 – Day at Sea
We woke up and had breakfast at Johnny Rockets. We all played bingo and then hubby played in a volleyball tournament. We had reservations for Mamma Mia at 2:30 pm. Before the show, it was announced that our ship was assisting the Coast Guard with a rescue. Our ship sent out a life boat to assist a boat in distress. The ship personnel took them food and water and then the Coast Guard cutter took over the rescue effort. As we were sailing off there was another raft to the opposite side of the ship that we assisted the Coast Guard with as well. I have never been on a cruise in which this happened, so this was very interesting. I wish I would have left the show to see everything unfold, but a cruise mate videoed it, so I was able to watch it all unfold after the cruise on YouTube.
We had tried to attend the Aquashow a few days earlier, but the waves were too large, so it got rescheduled. We attended the 8:15pm show and it was amazing! After the Aquashow, we had reservations for the Adult Comedy Show. Between the Aquashow and comedy show, Baylee and Isabel competed in the battle of the sexes. To top things off they didn’t know we were watching, so we got to see them at their silliest! We went to the Adult Comedy Show to see Don Grey and Phil Palisoul and then headed to the casino to play a little Blackjack. It was an eventful day!
Day 7 – Debarkation and Drive home
We Disembarked the ship at Port Everglades, Ft Lauderdale. We got to get off the ship after we ate breakfast in the main dining room. The debarkation and customs process was so simple! We got a porter to get all our bags to the car and we were out of there in no time. We stopped in Gainesville at the Keys for lunch and Le Macaron for dessert.
Once we got home, we started unpacking and doing laundry to get ready for our next adventures!!
