It may seem a little premature to say this is the beginning of great things, but if I manifest it and give it my all, it will happen! At this point, we have no other options, we have been headed down a slippery slope to bad health for a while. We havenโt been ill per se, but the extra weight has been causing knee and back pain, high cholesterol, and Iโm sure many others conditions that just havenโt manifested themselves in a manner that weโve noticed.
Today was the big day! I got my inbody test done and my goals were set with the nutritionist! I didnโt make any specific weight loss goals, but my main goal is to be fit and light enough to comfortably hike the Inca Trail. To say that I was surprised at the results is an understatement and also to find out I wasnโt eating enough of the right things was also very eye opening. The nutritionist at Carnivore Fitness was amazing! I also have a coach that will monitor my daily food logs to make sure I stay on track and give me motivation as needed. I am afraid I will need plenty of that, so I hope sheโs ready!
Iโm going to be completely transparent and show you all my inbody results. They are quite embarrassing, but if I can do this, anyone can!! The nutritionist said all it is, is simply a starting point. Thatโs the way I have to view it!

Basically I was not eating enough protein and eating too many carbohydrates and fat to get to this point. Any nutrition goals Iโve ever focused on have been just worrying about a calorie deficit. This program is different, as fueling your body correctly should allow you maintain your weight for a long time. The strict 1,200 calorie deficit diets just let you lose weight and then BAM it all comes back. 1,200 calorie diets are not sustainable so you end up gaining all the weight once you start eating more and more. Iโve briefly tried keto and lost weight, but it was not sustainable in my life either. This method hopefully will be successful and sustainable!
I have learned a lot today, especially about proteinโฆfor goodness sakes I had to eat chicken breast for a snack just to get in my macros and Iโm boiling beans now for my breakfast. Iโve been researching all day how to check all my macro nutrient boxes.
As I write this I am trying to stomach a protein shake. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good protein powder; I have greenwise vanilla protein right now. I tried adding ice and some strawberries and I could only drink half of the shake. Maybe I will get used to it. For now Iโve ordered another brand that my sister in law recommended.
To put the icing on the cake (not a good pun for todayโs events, I know), my new hiking boots got here today. I am breaking them in around the house and making sure they are light enough and comfortable. They feel good so far, so after a few more trial runs in the house, Iโll try them on a trail.

So hereโs to many miles on my new Keens and many, many grams of protein๐.
Iโll keep you all posted! Right now the focus is on the food and Iโm going to continue walking and weight training as I have been with some training hikes mixed in. I plan to share some of my exercise routines once they prove to be good and worth being shared! I ran a marathon only 3 years ago and I can train to be back thereโฆwonโt be running it, but will be hiking 26 miles at very high elevations. The main goal is to be healthy, but our motivation is hiking the Inca Trail and seeing Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate at sunrise! What a site that will be!
Come back for updates!
Out for now; until either my next adventure or a progress post.
XOXO
